The Conservatoire National des Plantes à Parfum, Médicinales, Aromatiques et Industrielles (France’s national conservatory of perfume, medicinal, aromatic and industrial plants, known by its French initials CNPMAI) is a tool created by producers to serve stakeholders in the perfume, aromatic and medicinal plant sector.

This organisation, unique in France, has combined agronomy, botany and education in order to accomplish the following activities:

  •  Conserving the large genetic diversity of perfume, aromatic and medicinal plants (France and Europe)
  • Promoting and making available to users suitable plant material, either new, improved or, quite simply, clearly identified
  • Participating in the protection of France’s natural heritage (notably endangered species)
  • Educating all audiences about the wealth of aromatic and medicinal plants and the safeguarding of biodiversity
