IDF (institute for forestry development) organises its activities around the tree and the forest:

  • The tree, both as an individual forestry wood-producing unit as well as a landscape element and/or productive in the environment and urban locations
  • The forest, as a wood production unit combining an economic role, ecological function and social function, but also as a crop associated with farms or as a supplier of additional work for farmers and, finally, as a producer of related activities such as hunting and tourism etc.

In this extremely diverse field, IDF conducts applied research and development work on forestry, the management of hedges, ornamental trees, afforestation of former agricultural land and all aspects specific to the environment: biodiversity, sustainable management, eco-certification and landscape.

The institute reinforces its actions through the provision of training (both programmed courses and bespoke) and publishing (thematic manuals and reviews).
